All children have moments when they lash out in anger by swearing, shouting, throwing or kicking objects. There are times when the aggression they show can seem particularly frightening and out of control, whether it’s to parents, other family members or outside the home. Parents often feel helpless and in despair about their children’s behaviour. They may think it’s their fault that their children act in this way.
Some parents are ashamed to admit that they can't control their children's aggression and are reluctant to talk about it. But they shouldn't blame themselves and there are things they can do to help ease the situation. Watch our video featuring Parentline Plus' Valerie Outram and get tips and advice on dealing with your child's violent behaviour.
Groups and workshops give you the opportunity to share your experiences with other parents and to get some fresh ideas on how to help you and your children make the most of life.
