Getting together with other colleagues, friends and family is a great way to raise funds for Family Lives. Fundraising is a personal thing and it should be fun - choose something that you will enjoy getting involved with. If you are in need of some fundraising inspiration, here are our top 10 ideas to get you started:
- Cakes and cookies
It’s hard to resist freshly baked goodies- bake some treats and take them to the office to sell- a guaranteed way to raise some cash. You could also organise a coffee morning and people from the local community to come and support Family Lives.
- Curry Night
Fans of a good Korma (or something hotter) could book an evening with a group of friends and ask the curry house to donate a percentage of the price of the meal to Family Lives.
- Charity Quiz
running a pub quiz night is a great way to get the Family Lives name out there and raise money at the same time, encourage friends to form teams and get competitive! Check out the internet for help with quiz questions.
- Party on!
Supporting Family Lives is the perfect excuse to throw a great party! Whether it’s a dinner, birthday, christmas, or fancy-dress party- get friends together and raise money throughout the evening.
- Car boot sale
A great excuse to have a real spring clean and get rid of all your unwanted goods. You’d be surprised at how much money seeling bric a brac or clothes etc. can raise, as the saying goes, ‘one man’s junk is another man’s treasure’!
Did you know you can help raise funds for Family Lives by buying and selling through eBay? You can view items for sale on our eBay page here http://donations.ebay.co.uk/charity/charity.jsp?NP_ID=37967 For all items you buy on this page, we will receive between 10% and 100% of the proceeds. You can also make your own donation to us when you sell for us– just click on the ‘sell for charity’ option and search for Family Lives.
- Clothes swap
This is a brilliant way to get yourself a new wardrobe whilst raising funds for Family Lives. Invite your friends to bring their unwanted clothes to your event, pay a fiver for entry, and let the swapping commence! Guests will receive a token for every item they bring which they then use to ‘buy’ other items. This is a really simple and fun way to raise money. Visit http://www.swishing.org/ for lots of handy tips.
- Off with her hair!
Get a willing volunteer to be sponsored to have his/her head/moustache/beard shaved or chest/leg waxed.
- Sponsored Slim
“Pounds for Pounds” is a great way to keep motivated; ask your friends and family to sponsor you for every pound in weight that you lose. If a group from your office decided to do a group sponsored slim, you could meet up every couple of weeks over a healthy lunch to discuss how it was going and spur each other on.
- Match Giving
Find out if your company offers a ‘match giving’ scheme – many employers are willing to match the money raised by staff holding fundraising events.
Family Lives has teamed up with JustGiving so that you can raise money easily and quickly online. Visit the JustGiving website to set up your page. Then simply email friends, family and colleagues directly from your fundraising page to enable them to donate online with a credit or debit card. No more running around with paper sponsor forms chasing people for money after the event! Make your page as personal as possible, it really helps to encourage people to donate; upload a photo and write a bit about what you are doing and why you are fundraising for Family Lives
This is a great way to let everyone know about your sponsored event. You can share yourJustGiving page on Facebook or create an ‘event’ and invite people to join.
